Intensive Courses

The ideal way to learn to drive is with a semi-intensive (our recommendation) or an intensive course, aiming to finish off with taking the practical driving test as close to the end of your course as possible. This way, regular lessons can be spread over just a few weeks so that your learning patterns are consistent. This approach reduces the likelihood of forgetting what you have learned and gives you the opportunity to experience and learn to cope with different driving conditions, for example, weather conditions; traffic volumes; low winter sun.

Pupils using the traditional ‘‘one-lesson-a-week’’ approach often take many months to learn to drive. While this helps to spread the cost, you could end up paying more in the long run. This is because, without practice between lessons, you often forget what you have learned from one week to the next and need to spend part of the next lesson settling down again, or having to recap - and just as you're hitting your stride, that hour will have simply flown by! You may feel you're taking two steps forward and one step back and probably will need more lessons to pass the test.

Please be aware that the Practical Driving Test cannot be booked or taken if the Theory Test has not been passed.

It cannot be guaranteed that you will pass the test after an intensive or semi-intensive course. It is purely down to how you drive on the day.
